A textual or verbal description can never be definitive: an image, accompanied by additional textual information and associated location information, provides clear, concise information and can be transmitted in an instant.

Designed to improve public security and safety, Image Messaging can help accelerate emergency response times, aid apprehension and, ultimately, assist in saving lives.

Allowing control room dispatch of critical image message information, Image Messaging delivers images taken from CCTV, video recorders or cameras to TETRA radios and Java-enabled devices. It can be used from a client application or integrated into existing command and control systems.

A child is reported missing. Using image messaging, a photo of the little girl is instantly circulated to all police in the area, who quickly spot the child wandering unaccompanied. After a short but tense time, the child is reunited with her parents.

Message allows customised routing of messages between email, SMS (GSM/3G/LTE) and SDS (TETRA), permitting seamless communication among the various technologies.

Messaging is rapidly being adopted for use as an essential communications medium, particularly among mission-critical and business-critical users. Fast and efficient, it also provides an auditable means of communication with the potential for data analysis and process improvement. However, not all users within an organisation will be using the same technology.

Message ensures that communications are delivered to the desired device in the appropriate format, based upon a set of user-defined rules, as well as offering a store-and-forward service, holding messages until they can be delivered.

During Finland’s EU presidency, a significant element of the Finnish Police’s duties centred on monitoring convoys. Instant messaging was used on both TETRA and GSM networks. With support, the police were able to message between the two technologies, allowing them to closely monitor the real time status of convoys whilst leaving voice channels free for emergency calls.

A comprehensive fleet management tool, Radio Manager 2 allows you to simultaneously program up to 32 radios per programming client application, enabling rapid updates across your fleet.

With automatic terminal detection and programming based on radio identity, radios can be programmed at remote locations, providing maximum flexibility and reducing operational costs.

Radio Manager 2 can also be used to remotely diagnose problems, increasing operational time and reducing the number of returns for repair or investigation.

BHP Billiton Iron Ore, based in Western Australia, uses a geofencing SDA* to warn operators if they are approaching a blast area; the reporting rate of the GPS is automatically increased for more accurate positioning and decreased when the operator retreats, conserving system resources.

Allowing complete control of a Sepura TETRA mobile or gateway from a Windows-based or in-vehicle mobile data terminal, the Virtual Console saves valuable dashboard space in today’s congested vehicles.The Virtual Console can be customised and integrated into other applications as an active X control. It can also be connected remotely via an IP connection providing access to remote radios or radio access in an office environment.

WAPWAP

WAP increases operational time in the field by providing access to information otherwise available only on a networked PC, permitting the rapid dissemination of data – such as missing person information – to radio users.Up to 4GB of data, images and text can be organised into a convenient and intuitive WAP site, encrypted and stored on the radio’s Micro SD Card via Radio Manager 2. A URL shortcut contained in an SDS text message takes the user directly to the local site, or to a backend site accessed via TETRA.WAP 1.2.1, specifically designed for devices with limited bandwidth, is a standard feature on Sepura radios, and incurs no additional licensing costs. 

 

Stop-and-SearchStop & Search

Specially developed in partnership with Greater Manchester Police, the Stop and Search application drastically reduces the time spent on each encounter, improves accuracy of data and increases patrol time of your force.Using a series of menu-based prompts, officers can record the details of any encounter at the scene using their TETRA radio, or smart device. The device then interacts with the force’s back-end system, accurately recording and instantly storing the data.The member of the public is given a card with all the details of the encounter; the officer need only add a reference number, provided by the device. The whole process can take as little as five minutes from start to finish, with no need to re-enter information later.By speeding up the process the app increases each officer’s street time, and enhances the relationship between the public and police through use of a more efficient approach. Data can be stored electronically, slashing physical storage requirements and making information retrieval both fast and accurate. The compilation of reports and statistics  is also made significantly easier, helping to provide greater accountability, in line with the new UK code of conduct.The Stop and Search application is a low-cost, low-risk subscription-based investment that can be used on various platforms, providing a flexible and future-proof investment.

The network management system (NMS) enables the configuration and management of the TETRA system, monitoring network elements such as the base station, gateway, external alarms and power supply units.The Network Management System FTN System supplies several powerful software tools:

Configuration management

  • Provides the configuration of the network and network elements
  • Allows baselining of current configurations and archiving of network configurations
  • Gives predefined configuration templates for common maintenance supervision across network elements

Software management

  • Provides a software repository for all software deployed in the network
  • Allows software auditing of network elements
  • Permits remote downloading of software to network elements for upgrade preparation

Subscriber management

  • Provides the configuration of the TETRA terminals
  • Allows the terminals to be configured and enabled with TETRA services and capabilities
  • Restricts engineers to certain subscriber groups to protect access to, and modification of, subscriber data without the correct privilege levels

Fault management

  • Collects and presents system alarms from all the network elements
  • Presents the operational state of the network in various hierarchical layers
  • Allows alarm management, with individual alarm presentation and alarm history

Performance management (optional)
The following customer and network operational KPIs are captured and stored from the network elements in a centralised system:

  • Call detailed records
  • Mobility detailed records
  • Short data service (SDS)
  • Packet data

Performance management also provides the ability to generate speech, packet data, SDS and mobility performance reports, as well as base station reports for the Air Interface and backhaul

Individual user’s calls with call details, packet data transmissions and SDS messages with SDS details can also be viewed.

Security Management

  • Provides log in authentication of operations and maintenance engineers and password policies
  • Authorises accounts to perform different functions and actions by individual operations and maintenance engineers

Configuration and hardware platforms
The NMS is built as a client-server architecture; for each of its functions, one or several clients can be provided. Please note that the NMS will be configured individually according to operational needs and performance restrictions.

The NMS server is hosted on a server with a redundant hard disk (RAID 1+1). Clients run on common PC platforms. All software applications are based on MS Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 Professional.

 

 

Security

Crypto-Delivery-ToolCrypto Delivery Tool

In combination with the Crypto Management Centre (CMC), the Crypto Delivery Tool (CDT) provides a fully scalable turnkey End-to-End Encryption security solution.Held within a USB device, it allows the secure transfer and delivery of E2E encryption keys and other cryptographic material from the CMC to Sepura radios.Before use, the CDT must be registered to a CMC. Access is password protected and all material is stored in encrypted form. Fully autonomous, it leaves no trace on the host PC.

 

Crypto-Management-CentreCrypto Management Centre

The Crypto Management Centre (CMC) is a suite of tools which enables user management of end-to-end encryption keys from a single user-friendly, Windows-based interface.Fully compliant with TETRA MoU Security and Fraud Prevention Group recommendations, the CMC offers wired and wireless options, a multi-language GUI and user-configurable access levels with password protection.Capable of holding crypto material for hundreds of terminals, it supports automatic programming based on time interval or date, and manual updates if immediate changes are required.A time-stamped audit of critical tasks is kept by the CMC, and a ‘stun and kill’ command allows over-the-air deletion of keys from lost or stolen radios, prohibiting communication and maintaining the integrity of the system.

A casino requires its encryption keys to be updated on a shift-by-shift basis. The CMC automates the procedure, updating the keys according to a schedule, or on an ad hoc basis.

 

Standalone-Key-Management-SystemStandalone Key Management System

Designed to enable user management of TETRA air interface security keys, the Standalone Key Management System (SKMS) takes static cipher keys and seals them with the authentication key for later programming of each radio.Whether the user provides the Authentication key values in the SFPG (Security Fraud Prevention Group) recommended 01 format, or they are generated by the SKMS, using a secure random number generator, the SKMS then stores the key value and the TEI of the radio in the required SFPG format, ready for secure transfer.
